Smart Energy
Students learn how primary and secondary forms of energy power the modern world and why manufactures design and build products to ENERGY STAR standards to achieve the most energy efficient operation. Students discover how the technology behind high efficiency appliances adds value beyond the meter by offering home energy management solutions to support the future of the SMART GRID.

Smart Home Technology
A smart home is a residence that uses an automation system to monitor and manage internet-connected devices including home appliances. Students discover how Smart Home Technology is an intriguel part of future energy management by providing two way communication between the energy we consume using our smart devices and the electrical grid.

Science of Electricity
The Science of Electricity is an entry level course that introduces basic concepts of current electricity and electronic controls. Students receive a real-world education that transcends to the diagnosis and repair of major home appliances. Upon completion, students will have a working knowledge of Voltage, Current and Resistance along with the principles required for troubleshooting AC/DC circuits.

Navagating Diagrams
Reading and undestanding wiring diagrams is key skillset for repairing appliances. This course builds upon the Science of Electricity where students learn to recognize and understand the universal symbols used in wiring diagrams. Students will apply basic troubleshooting strategy, using various tools to test voltage and current during hands on activities.

Product Knowledge
Students learn the in and outs, features, benifits and purpose of home appliances in each category, Home appliance service and repair is more than completing a successful repair, its about fixing the customer, knowing what to consider normal and how to resolve it. The better you understand the product, the more confidence you will feel and the better your outcomes will be.

Troubleshooting Strategy
Students will learn and practice proven troublshooting strategies like the process of elimination and chasing voltage. Learners will develope strong diagnostic skills by incorportaining critical thinking into the process. This course creates a strong foundation while providing a real world education specific to repairing home appliances.

Refrigeration
Students will learn the theory of refrigeration, air flow, refrigerant flow and tremperature control. Students will be introduced to basic sealed sytem operation and troubelshooting strategy, using standard Refrigeration test equipment and Lokring technology. Refrigeration is an advanced skillset and will increase a technicians income potential.

Customer Service
Students will learn interpersonal, communication and empathy skills. to resolve customer issues and foster a positive relationship between the customers and the brand. Learn about empathy so they can see a service request from the customers point of view and help customers understand the product and resolution while building brand loyalty.
